Krav Maga Intro Session

What you absolutely must know before signing up for our introductory course…

Let’s get straight to the point.

This session could change your life.

Bold statement, I know, but it’s true. Absolutely everyone, worldwide, who has trained in Krav Maga took that first step; they took a chance and invested in their future.

They might have wanted to be able to protect themselves, improve their fitness or to meet new people. There will be more reasons, and many people will have more than one.

It could simply be curiosity.

But, importantly, they acted on it.

And that is one of the secrets of self defence – the need to act or make a decision. That doesn’t necessarily mean fighting; it might be to talk, to de-escalate, or simply to leave the area.

They are all good decisions, in the right context.

And they all carry an element of risk.

But so does doing nothing.

Making a decision gives you a say in what’s happening, and that is a key element of self defence. In Krav Maga you will learn certain techniques, physical solutions that are fast, simple and effective.

So why have I been going about decisions?

Because you are making one.

Right now.

Even by doing nothing you are making a decision.

One the one hand, you decide to take the introductory session. You take the chance, get stuck in and learn effective new skills. You meet new people, and realise they’re a decent bunch. You learn how the lessons are run and how our teaching method allows everyone to access the skills.

Most importantly, you realise by taking part that you can do it!

On the other hand, you don’t take the session. You don’t learn anything new, you don’t push yourself physically, you don’t find out what the lessons are like. You don’t meet anyone new and you don’t learn how to defend yourself.

Everything stays exactly the same.

There is comfort in the familiar. But you have been down that street many times before. The fact that you are reading this demonstrates that you are ready for something new.

Go on.

Take the red pill.

P.S. for those of you who have never watched ‘The Matrix’, ‘Take the red pill’ was a euphemism for taking an unknown path for the chance of personal improvement – quite apt in this case!!

Our clubs in Shrewsbury & Oswestry are friendly, the Krav Maga instruction is among the best you will find in the UK, and you will get fitter, stronger and more flexible along the way – what’s not to like ?!

Self-defence is the core framework of Krav Maga and as such, a large part of each class is based on what is called ‘scenario-based training’. This is where defence against a specific attack or threat type is demonstrated and then broken down slowly and practised. Approaching training in this way is what makes krav maga different from a martial art with the expectation that you should leave every class with a better idea of how to defend yourself.

Krav Maga was developed in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld, who later became the Chief Instructor of Physical Fitness and Krav Maga for the Israeli Defence Force (IDF).

The FEKM (European Federation of Krav Maga) was created in 1997 by Richard Douieb, to whom Imi Lichtenfeld gave the responsibility for Krav Maga in Europe, and now includes more than 25,000 members across 15 countries. It is the largest and most well respected Krav Maga organisation in the World.

Krav Maga Self Defence is run in Shropshire by Jamie Daniels, a qualified FEKM Black Belt Instructor with over 25 years of Martial Arts experience.
